Having cool friends means you are THE COOLEST. The fashion show lewks were so fresh and different. I loved the camper outfit too. The art show colors with bold blues and pops of orange were really fun and remind me of possibilities being within reach.
Something’s weird because I wrote a comment about this, but it didn’t post, and I can’t find where I wrote it if not here… but that just gives me an excuse to echo your celebration of the exhibition—including the tent coat; everything about that photo activates delight in me—and join you in resisting minimalism. Although I understand the theoretical elegance of not much, I love seeing art and thinking about a piece’s journey to becoming, and minimalism as a mindset (in my experience) prides itself as much on what’s not present as what is. Give me more color and character—minimalism needs that to play off of anyway.
In any case, between opera and fashion show, you’ve twice sung the praises of art in forms I haven’t seen, which is both cool and a reminder to seize artistic opportunities that I haven’t before. It wasn’t the only factor, but I thought of your opera piece when I attended an annual music festival in the park. It’s 38 years old, and I’m 40, with 35 of those 38 years in town, but I’d never gone, and I had a good time.
You champion books as well as anyone, but your written voice has spoken more widely for and about the art community than that. Thank you.
